My name is Hortensia Gallardo Lira and I am proud to be a counselor at CATS! I have been counseling CATS students for four years now. Prior to coming to DRLC, I was a middle school counselor at Clinton Middle School. I am very passionate about counseling and supporting our students and their families. I spend most of my time talking, reading, and playing with my son, Andrew. I enjoy horseback riding, attending sporting events, hiking, bike riding (mostly at the beach), and traveling!
I graduated many moons ago from Culver City High School and enrolled at Santa Monica Community College (SMC) immediately after high school. At SMC, I met an amazing counselor who guided and mentored me given I was the first in my family to go to college. I then transferred and graduated from USC with my B.S. in General Studies with a minor in the Teaching Profession. A year later, I decided to go back to school to “clear” my teaching credential from CSULA and started my journey as an elementary school teacher. I earned my Master Degree in Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services Credential from LMU. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at (323) 846-2114.
